Creating, editing, and sharing promotional videos can be a long and expensive process. Where you may have needed to hire a video editor to get the results you desire in the past, other free options are now available.
With Canva, you can create professional branded graphics for a range of projects such as websites, social media platforms, presentations, blogs, and more. Not only is it free to do but it’s wonderfully simple.
The possibilities are almost endless with Canva. Every time I use it, I am amazed by the professional quality offered. While most use it as a means to create posters or advertisements, others use it to produce promotional videos.
Maybe you’re a social media marketer who needs to make certain graphics. Maybe you don’t have a tonne of experience in the field of video design. Whatever the reason you need to make a video, I am going to show you how to make an animated end graphic for you to use for promotional purposes.
Promotion has never been easier for businesses or individuals. The internet has opened up new doors for self-promotion and allows you to reach a wider audience than ever before. With just the click of a button, something you post has the potential to reach millions of people. Years ago, this would have cost an extortionate sum to achieve and may not have been possible at all.
Fortunately, that’s all changed. There is now an endless stream of editing software available to create high-quality promotional videos and posts. One of the best sites is Canva. It has an impressive array of templates to get you started but also allows you to be as creative as you want to be.
Some services on the site have to be paid for but with a little research and patience, you should be able to make a video for free.
Let’s take a look at the steps for making an animated promotional video in Canva.
1. Head to canva.com. At first, you may be a little overwhelmed by the sheer amount of templated designs available to you. But, take your time and choose one that you like. If you’re not a fan of any of the templates, you can start from scratch with a blank canvas.
If you want a design for a specific platform such as Facebook or Instagram, you can choose templates with the correct sizes for these sites. For argument’s sake, I will be basing this tutorial on an Instagram post and using an Instagram Reel-sized end graphic with a completely blank canvas.
2. Decide what message you want to put across. For promotional purposes, this should be a bold tagline or a simple product promotion. You must know the exact reason why you’re making this video and the audience you are trying to target.
The best promotional videos sum up their message in just one sentence. If you have a new product, simply demonstrate it to your customers in the video. Explain what it is and why people should have one. You can use anything you desire so be creative!
3. You can duplicate your video’s design as many times as you require. This includes adding text and graphics that you will want to appear on each slide. The final slide should show your logo, website address, and a call to action (CTA).
For instance, use one word from your tagline in each slide. Your design should be applied to the letters to help them stand out. When your audience reaches the last slide, they should be met with your business name, website, logo, a call to action, and another tagline.
4. Okay, let’s get animating! On Canva, choose “Animate.” Then, decide which style of animation you prefer. Your words may move from one side of the slide to another or flash onto the screen. Play around with the animation to see what suits your video best. Canva has several options so you should be able to find something appropriate for your promotional video.
5. Once you have decided on the animation, select the timing for this on each slide. For example, you could use 1.5 seconds when displaying your tagline in your slides and then use 3 seconds in your final slide. It’s up to you!
6. Now, simply play your video in Canva. This is a great way of seeing if anything needs changing. Most of the time, you will see ways to improve your video so make adjustments if required.
7. Once you’re happy with your video, download it as an mp4. You can also download it as a GIF if preferred. As soon as it’s downloaded, you’re ready to share and promote it to the world!
Canva video maker has thousands upon thousands of stock video footage that could save you the time of filming something yourself. Also included are high-quality audio tracks that can be used in your video to add either a dash of drama or a splash of excitement. Premium content options are also available at an affordable price.
The best thing about Canva is that it leaves no watermarks on your video. And, there’s no limit to how many videos you make or how many times you download something. You will find it hard to find this service anywhere else for free.
